Hello readers! My name is Kimberly Oxford and I am currently a stay-at-home mom and loving every second that I get to watch my sons grow and learn! I am a follower of Jesus and I have been married for over 7 years to the love of my life, Mac, and we have FOUR amazing sons. A five year old, three year old, two year old and another little on who joined us June of 2018! Those are just the basics, but continue reading to learn more!
Meeting My One & Only:
I can’t do anything without first talking about the one who means more than anything to me. Our story started out small but has gotten bigger and more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. At first, Mac was just that boy that goes to my church and then 4 or 5 years later (after puberty hit, of course) I was like – “Dang, that boy is CUTE!” So when I was in middle school the back and forth cheesy flirting began. Then after a few weeks of that nonsense, and realizing we both had feeling for one another – he asked me out during a youth group game at our church. Those first few years of our relationship are so fun to look back on, because it feels like a different lifetime.
All I knew was: this guy was hilarious and adorable, he made me feel like a queen, and I loved him – (even though that seems like nothing compared to how I love this man today). Once we both went off to college, we decided to take a short break to see what we really wanted out of that relationship that had started when we were both so young. During that short time apart, we both realized how much we valued our relationship, how much we had grown, and how much we wanted this love to continue and to last forever. In December of 2009 we recommitted ourselves to that relationship and 5 short months later, in May of 2010, we were engaged!
Then after my second year in college, we were married May 14, 2011! We just celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary and it is crazy how much I love this guy. He is my FAVORITE and I love that I get to adventure life with him. He cherishes me, is silly with me, and pushes me to follow my dreams. But most importantly, he points me to Jesus and shows me His love DAILY.
Being a Mama:
I never realized how much being a mom would change my life. It REALLY changed me. It changed my view on life, my dreams, my wants, my values, and showed me things that I never dreamed I’d be capable of. Things I thought I wanted with my life seemed meaningless and my children showed me new dreams. The funny thing is that as a child I wanted to grow up, go to college, and be a working woman with a few kids. I never imagined WANTING to stay home with my children rather than going off to work every day – but they changed me and what I wanted for my life. There was nothing wrong with going to work, but I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted anymore (at least in the capacity I had always pictured). In 2013 I had my first son: Josiah Samson Oxford.
He is my JOY. He is just like Mac in so many ways. He loves making people laugh and he has the sweetest smile I have ever seen. In December 2014, Nolan Robert Oxford joined our lives a month earlier than we expected!
He has been such a fun baby and although he is the twin of #1 by looks, their personalities can be quite opposite! He is much more reserved than Josiah was at his age. However, sometimes it seems like he loves Josiah more than anyone else!
In June 2016, our third adorable boy joined our family! Trenton James Oxford is our littlest and he is the happiest flipping baby ever!
These boys make my life so beautiful and I love being their mama!
Here is a picture of all three right after TJ was born!
We literally laughed out loud when we found out our little Sawyer was going to be our FOURTH baby boy. In June of 2018, he arrived and completed our family. He is seriously the EASIEST baby ever and so mellow! Everything I could ever wish for in a fourth (and probably last) baby!
Where I’ve Been:
I grew up in Southern California with my two wonderful parents, and a big brother!
My faith was so instrumental in paving my life to where I am today – in miraculous ways in fact, because I know my life would have been very different if it weren’t for a few specific faith-based formative moments. One of those decisions led me to leaving Southern California and moving to the Pacific Northwest to attend college in Portland, Oregon.
I have been here ever since and I love the choice that I made, moving here over 9 years ago. I started college unsure of where I would be when I left and I finished college with Bachelors Degree in Human Development, Family Studies, and Psychology, a husband, and a baby! Some people judge me for deciding to stay home with my children and “wasting” my college education by not working but getting that degree is one of my biggest accomplishment and what I learned was SO valuable to what I am doing now (despite the fact that I am not getting paid).
Where I Am:
Right now, I am a stay at home mama taking care of my four amazing boys! I am also a Certified Family Life Educator and I am putting together a few workshops on marriage, parenting, etc that I will be teaching to share the things I have learned studying families across the lifespan. On top of that I am a full-time blogger for The Ox Mama, sharing my life as well as tips for family, beauty, and natural living. I want The Ox Mama to be a place for me to share my knowledge of all aspects of family life in a way that is enjoyable for mamas (and others!) around the country to gain something from.
Dreams & Other Things:
In the future I hope to continue blogging and teaching others about family life. On top of that, I am looking to add to my education and begin teaching classes and writing books. Also, something you may not know about me is that I LOVE baking. A dream of mine that I will be pursuing in the future is to open my own play-bakery to express my love for baking and children! The beautiful thing about life is that you do not have to have any sort of cookie-cutter life.
Be who you want to be and dream what you want to dream. I am so thankful to have an amazing family that allows me (and pushes me) to make my dreams a reality and I love that I get to share those dreams with others.
Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my life with you.
