Breastfeeding Challenges
Breastfeeding is HARD ya’ll! Surely it should get easier with each child, right? But I definitely have plenty of breastfeeding challenges right about now. If you’ve followed along with me for a while now, you know that all my breastfeeding journeys have been very different from one another. ALL very difficult in their own way.
Sawyer (my fourth baby) and I have had a few small hiccups with breastfeeding, but nothing quite like the others. However, finding the time, space, and physical + emotional energy to feed him is our BIGGEST challenge. I HAVE FOUR KIDS FIVE AND UNDER. It still baffles me -haha! Life is hard right now, it’s loud, and very busy.
I have an internal struggle constantly of whether or not I should continue breastfeeding. Some days, it is the easiest thing ever and I am reminded at how much I cherish this beautiful, fleeting, closeness with my baby. And the other days, I am being pummeled by toddlers at every angle while trying to latch on a wiggly baby who would prefer to eat 20-25 minutes on each side. HARD ya’ll!
Infant Probiotics and Other Benefits
Previously, I have talked about infant probiotics on the blog before, toward the end of my breastfeeding journey with TJ (our third baby). I am very pleased to work with Evivo again during this time with Sawyer. I wanted to bring up the probiotics alongside my discussion about these challenges because I always find a silver lining. We love using Evivo! Whether my time breastfeeding Sawyer lasts another day or another year, I will be thankful for the positive effects that Evivo and breastfeeding started him off with! Both are SO beneficial to his long-term health and immune system development!
Evivo is a probiotic for breastfed infants. The good bacteria, B. infantis, might be missing from your baby’s gut. When the good bacteria is missing, the bad bacteria can thrive and cause other problems later on, such as obesity, eczema, and more!
How do you know if baby’s gut is healthy? Thankfully, there’s now a simple 3 question Baby Gut Check you can take that will reveal if baby is one of 9 out of 10 infants missing B. infantis:
- Question 1: Were you OR your baby born via C-section?
- Question 2: Were you OR your baby given antibiotics pre-delivery or post pregnancy?
- and Question 3: Does your baby have diaper rash OR 5+ watery poops per day?
We could definitely relate to question #3 with Sawyer and I really believe Evivo has helped! It is clinically proven and I would definitely recommend you add it to your list of things to have ready when baby comes. The first 6 months are SO important when it comes to building up this good bacteria!
