Get on with that mom self care! Self care is so important! Moms tend to forget about the importance of this. I know firsthand that it is so easy to go about your day and never have time for yourself. However, it is something that is always on my heart! For myself and for other moms out there. Use your support system and voice your needs! Take yourself out for a massage or facial, or just walk alone in Target (every mom’s favorite hobby).
If you can’t get out of the house, here are 5 ways you can take care of yourself at home!
Mom Self Care
1 Taking care of your body.
This one is obvious, but it is also widely forgotten as a mom. Not because people choose to forget it, but because #momlife happens. After spending all day taking care of three boys, most of the time I don’t feel like showering or brushing my hair, but I do it. I like going out/ running into people places and NOT smelling like the leftover happy meals in my car.
Also, I pushed three babies out of my body, so……
Luckily, the amazing smelling, natural, sulfate free wipes and gentle wash help with ALL that. Sweet spots coconut lime gentle body wash is amazing and the smell is so tropical and summery! Plus, I love that I can carry the wipes with me to wipe down my armpits after corralling all of my boys out of an attempt at the grocery store alone. Do you know how difficult it is to get three boys under 5 in and out of the car without sweating?! It’s impossible.
If you want to check these beauties out, they are only $5.95 at Walmart in the feminine hygiene section! The products are natural, gentle AND the wipes are alcohol free! Yes! You know I am all about finding natural products that I can use on my sensitive skin and this these fit the bill!
2 Facials and Masks
One of my favorite ways to take care of myself at home is by giving myself quick facials! You can buy at home peels or masks at any local chain or drugstore and DIY at home! My favorite right now is a papaya + citrus skin-brightening peel mask!
I try to do these about once a week. My skin is already dry and sensitive and these work wonders as long as I don’t do it too often.
It only takes about 15 minutes and I can intentionally relax myself as the mask does its work! Perfect way to get some quick mom self care. What is your favorite kind of facial or mask to do at home?
3 Journaling
I have always loved keeping a journal! I’m thankful that my love for that tranferred into my love for blogging! However, there is something so great about pen and paper and it is one of my favorite forms of self care. It doesn’t have to be about getting your day or feelings onto paper, but it can also be about your dreams and goals.
Sit down and write down your biggest dreams. Do it often, because they can change and it’s great to see what you can accomplish.
Another form of this that I use as my mom self care is hand lettering! I love using my pens and expressing a bible verse or thought that has been on my heart lately. It is so freeing and it can be a great stress reliever!
4 Manicures + Pedicures
These can be so fun to do at home! Buy some quick drying polish and top coat though! Without fail, every time I start my nails my boys wake up from their nap or need me to open something. And every time, it gets messed up. Every. Single. Time. So a quick drying polish is the way to go.
This is great because makeovers and manicures always feel good! Even when you’re doing them on yourself!
5 Baking
Baking may not be your thing, but bake some cookies or brownies and invite a friend over and eat them! One of my favorite kinds of mom self care. Especially if it’s during nap time and you don’t have to share with your kids 😉
This could really be any kind of hobby that you love. Find something if you don’t already have one. Doing something that you love, with people that you love is SO refreshing. It lifts up my spirit every time. If I ever need a little extra self-care this is the way to go!
Don’t forget to head to Walmart and pick up the Coconut Lime body wash or wipes to add to your regular self care or beauty routine!
