Summer can be so fun but so stressful! Where we live, we have to take advantage of our sunny days. We have had SUCH a long rainy streak that the littlest bit of sun brings everyone outside. I have a rule in the spring. Once my flip-flops come out – they DO NOT go back until fall. Even if the weather decides to be bipolar, those flips-flops will stay. Pretending it’s warm and sunny will work until it’s actually warm and sunny!
Sensitive Skin
If you’ve followed along, you know that my boys and I have sensitive skin. It can be frustrating to find products that work on our skin! In the summer, things are worse. There’s even more effort to keep my skin moisturized, clean, and safe!
With the dry weather and the heat, my skin usually takes a turn for the worse! I have to be proactive about how I prepare for my time outside in the sun. I thought it would be fun (and helpful) to put together a list of my go-to summer survival kit items that help me on my sunny days out AND don’t destroy my skin.
Summer Survival Kit
- Lip balm
- A great UVA/UVB zinc oxide sunscreen
- Natural deodorant
- Moisturizer/Face Cream
- Water and shade
- Frozen fruit
Along with my dry skin, my lips are always dry too! A good lip balm is necessary for me regularly! The same goes for deodorant! I like using a natural deodorant because that’s what works best on my sensitive skin.
For aftercare, my skin is normally very dry from the heat all day and moisturizer does wonders! Now, the last two on the list aren’t directly related to my skin issues but they are definitely necessary for my summer survival kit!
Neutrogena Sheer Zinc™
Neutrogena Sheer Zinc at Target has been perfect for my summer survival! It is perfectly suitable for my sensitive skin and it doesn’t clog pores! I went to Target and found this is the sunscreen aisle. The first thing I loved about it was that is was naturally sourced 100% zinc oxide AND that they made one specifically for your face! I made sure to grab one SPF 50 lotion and one SPF 50 Face Lotion!
Even better – this week (5/21-5/27) Target is having an in-store and online offer! You can get a $5 Target GiftCard with a $15 sun care purchase!
I am so thankful I have been able to find products that work with my family’s sensitive skin issues, so we can make the most of every sunny day this summer! What would be in YOUR summer survival kit?
