I am usually the kind of person who likes to JUMP right into things. Once I have an idea or a goal in mind, I go full force until it is accomplished. Usually this is a good thing, although it can be bad (just ask my mom and husband).
This might be how I ended up with 13 chickens and ducks.
But this is also how I graduated from college with a double major and a CFLE certification. This is how I lost 40 pounds after having Josiah and how I made a part-time income working from home on my blog! So many of my greatest accomplishments were because of this drive.
However, it’s a lot more difficult when I have three boys 4 and under and too many commitments. Now that my youngest is getting bigger, though, and a little more independent, I find this virtue creeping back into my life.
I have begun to find more time for myself. Which means scheduling fitness back into my life! I love working out! I love yoga and pilates. The feeling I get after a workout and the motivation it gives me to eat healthy makes it even better!
Find Your Fitness
I have teamed up with U by Kotex Fitness to talk about how to find your fitness. Most of the time people don’t want to work out. We do it to lose weight or keep our bodies strong and healthy! I know I have always needed extra motivation – more than ever after having a baby! When I thought about the phrase “find your fitness”, I thought of it as more than motivation. I believe it’s about finding how YOU do fitness and what your motivation is.
1. Find your comfort
Unfortunately, this time around, my period came back when my baby did. I never got the beautiful break that breastfeeding can bring sometimes after baby comes. Luckily, the world creates beautiful products that are designed for exercise! U by Kotex fitness products stay in place (even when you’re not) and help keep you comfortable during exercise! When I combine my favorite pair of yoga pants and U by Kotex fitness products, I can be comfortable and never have to worry during my workout.
2. Find your peace
I love to do a little meditation! It doesn’t have to be mmm’s and ahh’s kind of meditation, but simply being on your mat or standing outside can be very important! I need to take time to reconnect with my body and my mind. This is a very important start for me and allows me to understand and find my why (see #4). Skipping this step can be detrimental, because here is where I find what my body needs. Is it really about weight? Do I want to just be healthy? These are the answers I find when I take time to meditate.
3. Find Your hydration
This one can be fun! What is your favorite (healthy) way to hydrate? I love to start with hot tea (during the “find your peace” phase) and end with ice water! I love the difference! The tea gets me focused and the water refills me after my workout! Also, I LOVE using a straw. I find that I remember to drink more water when I have a straw in my cup or water bottle throughout the day. Find your favorite water bottle, infuse it with something fun and stay hydrated!
4. Find your why
This is another very important one! Why are you doing this?! Mine always started with losing weight, but that never gets me very far. Ultimately, it’s never really about that. It usually boils down with me wanting to be an example for my children and being healthy enough to play with them and run around with them. Whenever I find my TRUE why – I am always more motivated and more likely to accomplish my goals in the long run.
5. Find your workout
I hate cardio. There I said it. I used to love it, when I was playing soccer in high school and running 1.5 miles every day before practice. But getting to that point was hell. That’s how I feel about it now too. I would much rather start slow, with yoga, and remind myself of my strength and capabilities until I am ready for something more intense (I love me some Shaun T!) That’s where I am at right now. Easing my way back into yoga and back into that feeling that I love. But Shaun T, I’m coming for you soon, boy.
With these things together, that’s how I believe you find your fitness. What do you think? Would you add or change anything?
Thanks to U by Kotex Fitness for sponsoring this post and saving my workouts! I found mine at Walgreens and you can check them out there too. Don’t forget to use this $2 off coupon though!

I love posts like these because I get to see a bit of life behind the blog! Staying active is my favorite thing to do. I’m a huge runner but I definitely enjoy my meditation and yoga!

I love each one of your steps to finding your fitness. If our why isn’t motivating enough to get us to work out, then we’ve probably picked the wrong one. Also, on a side note, I graduated with my CFLE too, but totally forgot to send the paperwork in to get it finalized. Ugh. But I loved the classes I took. What was your double major in?

Great tips for finding your why. I’ve tried getting into yoga, but it’s definitely not my spirit animal. Thankfully the YouTube Tracey Anderson videos seem to be. I look pretty hilarious doing it.
