Teaching or talking with toddlers and preschoolers about dinosaurs is so much fun, isn’t it?!
We had a blast learning about the names of dinosaurs, watching The Land Before Time, and digging for fossils!
Monday: Dino Color Book and Pre-Writing Practice!
I am surprised at how good he is getting at writing! He can trace on lines really well and loves writing out his letters! Lucky for us, our weekly letter was D for Dinosaur!
They had amazing pages! We even laminated their size sorter pages and cut them out for J to do when he did his puzzles!
Another thing that made our Monday perfect is that I laid out adorable dino shirts for them both to wear and had his dino toys waiting for him on his school today! It started our Monday off on a very high note! Here is the perfect one!
Tuesday: Puzzles and lots of reading!
Getting dinosaur books from amazon or the library are so easy! You can get every type!
Like I mentioned above, we used the puzzles from the free printables! There are SO many great ideas and papers to print out that are perfect for so many ages but there are also so many ways to modify it for your toddler!
Wednesday: Letter and Number focus!
This day, we focused on his letter and number of the week! He did lots of tracing pages and letter matching! I always try to work in some sort of dinosaury way, so we matched letters on top of dinosaurs!
Thursday: Dino-feet Painting + Handprint dinosaur!
These projects probably should have been on Monday (which is usually our arts+crafts day), but that is the beauty of homeschool! Switch it up if you need to or extend dino week because it is just too dang fun! (which we also did!)
Every week, we try to do at least 1 painting craft where he can experience using different things as painting tools! This week we painted dinosaur tracks by using the dinosaur feet of the amazing dino figures that I couldn’t find anywhere else! Even at Target! (GASP!!)
We also found this fun handprint dinosaur craft on this blog here!
Friday: Movement game, videos, and themed snack!
We always try to make Friday’s as fun as possible! He worked so hard during the week that we both deserve to get a little rest and reward! So this day we watch little informational dino videos on youtube, played this fun movement game, and had a dino snack!
He also had such a fun time matching them up with his new dino toys!
(okay okay, don’t judge me for buying these. But I had to. DINO nuggets!)
But if you have more time and more creativity… here is this cute dinosaur egg snack that would be perfect!
Like I mentioned before, part of the amazingness of homeschooling is that you can extend the really fun weeks! The Shapes week was the next week and I didn’t have a ton of stuff for him to do, but we had a few more dino things that we wanted to get to, so we took Monday to do another dinosaur activity!
Fossil Digging!!
I had been looking forward to this activity ever since I bought these super cool dinosaur bone figures! J had so much fun learning about fossils and then we finally got to dig for them!
We found this cool fossil matching sheet that matched a lot of our Dino Bone Figures and he kind of used it like a check list as he dug for fossils.
Here are some of the things that made dino week amazing!
