In honor of my teething 5 month old AND my teething toddler I decided I wanted to make a healthy, whole wheat, no sugar treat for Josiah! I let Little Ox #2 get a taste of one too and he loved it! He is getting his second tooth in and Josiah is getting both of his two-year molars – so it is safe to say that I have a few cranky boys on my hands!
I needed something to get my their mind off of teething, so Little Ox #1 and I baked these biscuits together and had so much fun! I honestly didn’t thing he would like eating them (because there is no sugar, obviously) but he loved them too! He even kept eating the “dough” as we were cutting out the hearts and stars.
I hope that you and your little ones will enjoy this recipe!
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup oat flour (oats blended in food processor)
- ½ cup applesauce (we used homemade)
- ½ tsp organic pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup water (you can substitute breast milk here)
- Mix all ingredients
- Preheat oven to 300 degree
- Knead dough on a flat floured surface until it is no longer sticky (do not knead too much)
- Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes
- Lay on a greased cookie sheet
- Cook for 35 minutes
- Lay flat to cool and store in an airtight container
On another note: my little baby is 5 months old today! Yikes!

What a great idea! Our kids actually teethed on elk jerkey. That was a long time ago. It was tasty and they couldn’t bit through it. They loved it. Thanks for linking up to Tips and Tricks. Hope to see you again this week.
