I try to talk about health and fitness every once in a while on the blog because it is an important aspect of my life. I am not perfect – I don’t work out and eat healthy all the time – but I try to as much as I possibly can. I want it to be a part of me but I am not going to let it defeat me even when I fail at times.
The funny thing is that the online fitness blogger – Cassey Ho of Blogilates posted something last week that completely ties in with this post that I had been meaning to write the last couple of weeks. It is lovely when things come together in God’s perfect timing.
Body shaming is heavy in this world and I know I have experienced it first hand throughout my life. Luckily, I have always been confident and never let it get to me.
Motherhood, for me, makes this confidence even stronger.
- My body grew TWO human beings. Two adorable, sweet, little(ish) boys.
- My stretch marks are there because of that too and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
- Usually, breastfeeding helps you lose weight. Nope. My body likes to do the opposite. With both of my babies I gained weight
-
Yes, I have fitness goals and I like to stay healthy and eat healthy.
These are all great things. I have fitness goals- but I am not going to hate my body until I reach those goals. That is NOT motivation.
My boys, who have perfected my body, are my motivation.
This beautiful and emotional video posted on Blogilates has been shared everywhere and I love this message. Watch.
How many girls look at themselves in the mirror every day and think horrible things or are bombarded by haters shaming her body? How many moms get discouraged when other new moms are flaunting their “post-baby bodies” and asking why that mom hasn’t lost her baby weight yet? I bet a lot.
Stop body shaming and love others. Stop body shaming and love yourself.
