I love a good DIY project that I can do for my toddler! This one is perfect because it is easily customizable for your toddler’s interests! So – instead of doing shapes or numbers, I went the obvious route and did an Avengers matching game for him!
The thing I liked most about this one is that even though I am not super crafty, I was able to find some “minimalist” symbols that were MOSTLY easy for me to cut.
Here is what you need:
- Felt sheets (or construction paper)
- I used felt because I wanted it to match these Felt Superhero Masks I made Little Ox #1
- Mod Podge or Glue
- Cardboard Box
- Paint
- Scissors
So easy! Also, the only thing I paid for was the felt sheets which were 20 cents a piece – everything else I had around the house. Plus even if it looks horrible – your toddler will still have fun!
Steps:
- Decide on your theme.
- We chose Avengers
- Cut your shapes, symbols, or numbers from your felt. I used a silver marker to trace first, and then I cut.
- You need to cut two of each so they will have a match for the game. It is also good to separate by color.
- Use scissors or box cutter to cut 10 (or more) squares or rectangles from your box for your game pieces.
- Glue symbols to the to cardboard pieces
- Flip over the cardboard pieces and paint that side.
- I used color coordinated “A”‘s to make the game a little easier (since he is only 2)
- Let dry and PLAY!
